2018 Officer of the Year - Anna Nicole Reichert

This year our honoree is an individual who came to me asking if I would consider sponsoring her in BLET in August of 2014.  Obviously, my response was yes, while I was thinking are you sure this is what you want to do.  Prior to this, she had worked as a receptionist at a Nail Salon in Salisbury.

As we spoke, I realized this was a goal this young female had set for herself, and she was truly committed to becoming an officer.

In 2010, she graduated from East Rowan High School and then attended Rowan Cabarrus Community College furthering her education.  It was then that she made the decision that she wanted to become a Police Officer.  We at Rockwell Police Dept sponsored her to attend BLET at Rowan Cabarrus Community College. While attending BLET, she completed may ride-alongs with Rockwell officers, and continually told me that she wanted to come to work for Rockwell.

She graduated BLET from RCCC in May of 2015, receiving an award for Most Improved Physical Fitness.  We appointed her as a Reserve Officer to begin her field training with Rockwell.  She faced many challenges with her “meek and mild” behavior, and learned early that she could not let her physical size and quiet voice stand in the way of her achieving her goals. She overcame those hurdles and has become a great officer for our community.

When we had a new full-time position come available, she was the first person to put in for it. As is my policy, I always try to hire or promote from within first. After serious consideration, I moved her to full-time status, and she has not disappointed me yet.  She is very proactive in our community.  She had developed a great reputation in town, as everyone loves her police work, except for the “bad guys”.  She seems to able to find a revoked driver or DWI or drugs from a block away.

As she continues her career, she has attained Certifications in DCI Modules 1, 2 and 3, Radar and Lidar Operator, and a Chem. Analysist for FTA Branch on the EC/IR 2. 

She has a very high work ethic and great family values.

I take great pride in recognizing Anna Nicole Reichert as the 2018 Officer of the Year from Rockwell Police Dept.
