When are the regular meeting dates for the Fire Department?
The department holds regular monthly business meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of each month and regular training meetings on the 4th Tuesday of each month. Additional dates for Officer and EMS Continuing Education Training are also provided.
How much training is required to become a Volunteer Firefighter or Emergency Medical Technician?
Each member is required to become National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1403 certified and those wishing to serve as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) are required to meet the NC Office of EMS certification.
Firefighter certifications can be obtained through the department and the Rowan County Firefighter Rookie School. EMT certifications are taught through Rowan Cabarrus Community College.
To be eligible for renewal of membership, each member shall attend at least one (1) meeting per month, or twelve (12) meetings per year, and have a minimum of 25 in-house training hours per year and an overall total of fifty (50) hours per year.
Can the Fire Department check my blood pressure?
Blood Pressure checks are provided free to anyone during the hours of 8am to 5pm, Monday thru Friday at the station.
